ACT says karakia should not be required to build

ACT says builders should not have to hold a karakia, a Māori prayer, to get council permission to build. Infrastructure spokesperson Simon Court said it would 'leave spirituality out of infrastructure'. He said planning rules should cover only effects that can be found, measured and checked, not spiritual beliefs for councils or judges to decide.
