Sanders Proposes Ban on Car-Tracking Cameras for Federal Agencies

Sen. Bernie Sanders introduced the Ban Flock Act on Oct. 2, 2026, with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Jeff Merkley. It would stop federal agencies from using cameras that automatically photograph license plates, like toll cameras, and track cars, and from using plate records kept by local police and private companies. Despite the name, it covers all such cameras.
