Microsoft's Business Now Runs on Cloud Services

Microsoft has transformed itself. Cloud services—computing power and storage rented over the internet—now account for two-thirds of the company's revenue, reaching $54.5 billion in the latest quarter. This marks the completion of a three-decade shift from selling PC software directly to consumers toward providing infrastructure that enterprises rely on to run their operations.
