Company Starts Selling Power Made From Hot Underground Rock

Fervo Energy started selling power from Cape Station into the grid September 30, 2026, the first company using heat from deep, cracked hot rock to run a commercial power station. The unit is one-third of a planned 100-megawatt plant in southwest Utah, where the site could hold up to 4 gigawatts. Google and Southern California Edison will buy the power.
