Fervo Brings First Enhanced Geothermal Plant Into Commercial Operation

Fervo Energy began selling electricity from Cape Station to the grid on September 30, 2026, the first enhanced geothermal company — which extracts heat by fracturing deep rock — in commercial operation. The unit is one-third of a planned 100-megawatt plant in southwest Utah, with site potential to 4 gigawatts. Google and Southern California Edison are the buyers.
