U.S. Troops Leave Iraq

The last U.S. troops fighting ISIL, the Islamic State group, left Iraq, the Defense Department confirmed Sept. 30. It ends a 12-year fight and over 20 years of U.S. troops there since the invasion that removed Saddam Hussein. They made an orderly exit from Erbil airbase, home to 1,500 allied troops, Central Command said.
