U.S. Ends 20-Year Iraq Mission

Final U.S. troops fighting ISIL, the Islamic State group, left Iraq Sept. 30, the Pentagon confirmed. It ends a 12-year campaign and over 20 years of U.S. presence since the invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein. The last forces made an orderly departure from Erbil Airbase, holding 1,500 coalition personnel, Central Command said.
