Fighting in the Somali city of Baidoa

Thousands of armed supporters of Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen, the removed leader of Somalia's South West region, entered Baidoa on September 28, 2026 and battled national troops. Witnesses reported warplanes and drones overhead. The capital Mogadishu sent soldiers to remove him in March, and control of the city is still undecided.
