Italian Court Finds Three Egyptian Officers Guilty Over Student's Death

Three Egyptian security officers were found guilty of kidnapping Giulio Regeni by Rome's Corte d'Assise, the court for very serious crimes, on 28 September 2026. Each got 10 years in prison. Regeni, an Italian student, was kidnapped, tortured and killed in Cairo in 2016. Italy held the trial for Egyptian officials accused over his death.
