Home loan costs jump sharply in just two days

US homebuyers face a 7.45% rate on a standard 30-year home loan, up 28 steps — 0.28 points — in two days, MarketWatch reported Sept. 25. Think of it as the price of borrowing jumping overnight. MarketWatch says 8% is 'not an impossibility.' In my view, that fast rise means bigger monthly bills and no payoff from redoing a loan.
