NZ to pay $23.7m to share US military satellite

New Zealand will pay $23.7m over two years towards a US-built satellite used for military messages and calls, RNZ reported. The satellite, called WGS-12, is due to launch in 2028 at the earliest. NZ is one of 10 partners sharing the Pentagon network, costing over $500m. The Defence Force says it secures the communications it needs.
