Rome restorers uncover 16th-century nude murals hidden by nuns for 300 years

Restorers have uncovered 16th-century murals of nude gods, soldiers and zodiac signs in the Villa Silvestri Rivaldi on Via dei Fori Imperiali in Rome, The Art Newspaper reported. The paper said nuns who ran a girls' school there from 1660 painted over the non-Christian images as offensive. Uncovering followed cleaning tests in 2002-2006.
