$50.7m lost on failed immigration checks

Taxpayers have lost $50.7m on failed Immigration NZ face and fingerprint checks. MBIE boss Nic Blakely told MPs in Parliament on 22 September the money will not be recovered. MBIE says $42m is written off, and ministers are asked to write off another $8.7m for face-to-face sign-up work. That is up from $33m advised.
