Hobbyist Finds Germany's Biggest Stash of Ancient Roman Coins

A hobbyist with a metal detector, Oliver Riedl, found 934 Roman silver coins in a Wesseling field south of Cologne in autumn 2025. He alerted experts at once, who carefully uncovered them. It is Germany's largest treasure of its kind from Emperor Hadrian's time, likely hidden on purpose around 125-150 AD.
