Yemen says it retook two hills in Taiz to push back Houthis

Saudi-backed Yemeni forces said on Sept. 22, 2026 they retook Mount Qarafan in southern Taiz and Mount Zalat near Kahboub. The army reports five Houthi fighters killed and 20 wounded at Qarafan. The operation aims to undo Houthi advances along the Red Sea coast earlier in September. Holding the ground will determine if it matters.
