20-Metre Lutetia Rampart Found Under Hôtel-Dieu

Archaeologists found a 20-metre section of stone-and-wood wall under the Hôtel-Dieu on Île de la Cité in summer 2026. Experts believe it is part of Lutetia's defensive walls — Lutetia being the ancient name for Paris — built by the Gallic Parisii tribe. Paris officials say the find could deepen knowledge of the early city.
