A Detective Says He Was Paid to Watch a Former Politician

Former police officer Shane de Kauwe told New South Wales’ corruption watchdog, ICAC, he was hired by Toplace executive Sharangan Maheswaran to watch former Liberal politician David Elliott, putting up a fixed camera in 2022 for $15,000. Elliott is not accused of wrongdoing. The claim came in Operation Rosny, an inquiry into alleged $2M unlawful gifts by developer Jean Nassif.
