Tesla Says Older Cars Need Expensive Hardware Upgrades for Future Driving Features

Tesla has reversed its promise that older vehicles equipped with its 2019–2023 hardware would work with future self-driving software. Millions of owners will now need paid upgrades. The company plans to build regional repair centers to handle the retrofits, dedicating part of a $25 billion budget to the effort. Pricing and timing have not been announced.
