World Leaders Gather for Anniversary Summit in Bishkek

Putin and Xi met in Bishkek on 31 August 2026 for a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, a 10-country group turning 25. Though it says it is not aimed at any other nation, the group claims to represent about 40% of the world's people and a quarter of its economy. Leaders of India, Pakistan, Iran, and Turkiye also attended.
