Melting Glacier Flood and Heavy Rains Kill Over 600 Near China-Nepal Border
A flood caused by a melting glacier bursting like an overflowing bathtub, combined with heavy seasonal rains, has killed over 600 in Nepal's Nuwakot district alone, CNN reports. More than 1,300 people are missing across the China-Nepal border. Washed-out roads have cut communities off. Nepal warns more floods could follow as rains and unstable glaciers continue.
