Republicans are expected to pick up about five House seats in 2026 just from redrawn district maps, the Cook Political Report says (via Wall Street Journal, Aug. 24). That matters because House control has recently come down to just a few seats. Reuters (May 13) had estimated up to twelve; the newer figure is smaller.
