ICE buys $16.7M electric-shock gloves despite safety concerns

ICE, the agency that enforces immigration law, agreed on 28 August 2026 to buy 6,000 pairs of electric-shock gloves for $16.7 million. Democratic senators and the ACLU opposed the deal. The ACLU called the hidden devices "a recipe for more harm to the public and less accountability." This follows fatal ICE shootings of two US citizens in Minnesota and over 50 deaths in custody under Trump.
