
Chinese Fake Accounts Used ChatGPT to Make Anti-U.S. Data Center Posts, OpenAI Later Identified Them as Fake
X's safety team found 200,000 fake Chinese accounts. About 200 of them posted AI-made cartoons and messages opposing U.S. data centers — the large facilities that store and process computing data. The posts matched a June 2026 OpenAI report naming Chinese ChatGPT users as the creators: an AI company's own tool produced content the company later called fake.
