Xiaomi's new $499 phone has a battery nearly twice the usual size

Xiaomi's Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, now on sale in Europe and other global markets (not the US) at $499, packs a battery nearly twice the size of recent mid-range phones — 9,210mAh in Europe, up to 10,000mAh elsewhere. Xiaomi says it should hold 80% of its charge after roughly six years of daily use and charges fully in just over an hour. The company has not disclosed weight or thickness.
