160 Dead as Sudden Floods Strike Nepal-Tibet Border Villages

On August 26, 2026, a mass of rocks and earth crashed into a river on the Tibet side of the Nepal border, sending a wall of water rushing downstream into Nepal. At least 160 people died and hundreds are still missing, including tourists. Floodwaters wrecked roads and bridges, making rescue work difficult. People downstream had almost no time to flee.
