Xbox Will Let You Turn Game Discs Into Digital Copies

Microsoft starts testing an Xbox feature August 31, 2026, letting owners of Xbox One and Series X consoles turn physical game discs into digital copies. The game's ownership stays linked to the disc, so lending and resale still work. Converted games also run on PC and via cloud streaming. Sony plans to stop making PlayStation discs by January 2028 with no similar option.
