Canada Hits Back With Equal Taxes on U.S. Goods, Starting September 8

Canada said August 25 it will charge equal taxes on U.S. steel, appliances, dairy and farm equipment starting September 8, matching what the U.S. charged Canada. Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne announced the move. President Trump placed 50% taxes on about $20 billion in Canadian goods after trade talks ended August 21. No more talks are planned.
