
More Students, Fewer Jobs: A Widening Gap
UK job openings for new graduates dropped 45.6% this July compared to last year — the fewest since records began in 2016. At the same time, a record 262,820 students start university this September. About 1 million young people are already neither working nor studying. More people are entering a door that's getting smaller. The Times says employers using AI to replace tasks may be one reason.
