Kazakhstan Holds First Vote Under Its New Rulebook

Kazakhstan votes August 23, 2026 for all 145 seats in its new lawmaking body, the Kurultai, which replaces the old two-house parliament under a constitution adopted March 2026. Seven parties compete; a party needs 5 percent of votes to get in. It's the first test of President Tokayev's overhaul, which also resets his term eligibility despite a one-term limit.
