Top economist says no to adviser role for PM Burnham

Lord Jim O'Neill told the BBC he will not be Prime Minister Andy Burnham's chief economic adviser. He refused to give up control of his business interests or use a blind trust — a setup where someone else manages your money without telling you what they are doing. The former Goldman Sachs economist said it was not about policy. He will advise informally instead, leaving Burnham without a named adviser.
