Two Tornadoes Hit Delaware and Long Island at the Same Time as Storm Floods the Northeast
On August 21, 2026, tornadoes struck Dover, Delaware and Atlantic Beach, Long Island at the same time — something rarely seen in the Northeast. The same storm also spun up tornadoes in Queens and flooded streets across the New York area and Mid-Atlantic. Jersey City crews rescued 69 people from flooded cars. Nassau County and Dover both declared states of emergency.
