Walmart Will Let You Tap Your Card to Pay — After Saying It Wouldn't

Walmart will let customers pay by tapping a card or phone at all U.S. stores and Sam's Club by year-end, announced August 21, 2026. In June, a spokesperson said the retailer had no such plans and pointed to its own Walmart Pay app. The two-month gap suggests a quick internal reversal. Gas stations follow by mid-2027.
