Scientists Turn to Public Voting to Fund Marmot Study After Climate Losses

Warm weather with little snow killed over 100 of 160 marmots being studied in Gothic, Colorado. Scientists there lost federal funding too. Now they're running an online public vote — like the popular Fat Bear Week contest — starting August 24, to raise money from everyday people. It's a test of whether small donations can keep a long-running animal study alive.
