
US Now Calls Hezbollah Part of Iran's Military, Not Just a Terrorist Group
The US changed how it labels Hezbollah, Lebanon's armed group. Instead of calling it an independent terrorist organization, Washington now describes it as part of Iran's overseas military force. A State Department official called the group "an extension" of that force. The move makes it easier to punish anyone doing business with Hezbollah, as part of America's wider pressure campaign on Iran.
