Google's new button lets readers tell it which news sources they trust

Google released a "Preferred Sources" button on August 20, 2026. Website publishers add it to their pages so visitors can choose a favorite source to see more from across Google Search, Discover, Google News, and Google's AI-generated answers. Google says people were twice as likely to click through to a source they had chosen.
