Economy grows but more people are out of work
The economy grew 2.6 percent in the June quarter, Infometrics reports, and concrete use rose 12 percent. But unemployment reached 5.6 percent — higher than expected — with 8,000 more people out of work long-term. Shoppers spent 1.4 percent less ($98 million) in June. The news is mixed for a government facing an election.
