Togo Holds French Filmmakers for Over a Year as Press Freedom Tightens

Togo has kept two French filmmakers and their local helper in jail since July 2025, accusing them of lying on paperwork. They had valid visas and permission to film, says the press rights group RSF. One is seriously ill and needs urgent care. Togo also banned two French news outlets and expelled a French journalist last year.
