Gas Prices Could Drop From $4.09 to $3.10 per Gallon, EIA Says
The U.S. average gasoline price is $4.09 per gallon as of August 18, 2026, reports the EIA. The agency forecasts annual averages of $3.31, $3.10, and $3.78 per gallon ahead. Lower oil costs should outweigh higher refining charges, pushing pump prices down. That means cheaper fill-ups, if the forecast holds.
