Green Party wants extra tax on big bank profits

The Green Party of England and Wales wants a 38% extra tax on UK bank profits above £800m, raising at least £19bn a year. Leader Zack Polanski said the money would cut tax bills by up to £10,500 for around a million small businesses. UK Finance said banks already pay extra taxes. The plan has no government backing; corporation tax is decided in Westminster.
