Victoria's big infrastructure inquiry can demand secret government files and question former leaders

Victoria set up a formal investigation into major construction projects on 20 August 2026. The head, Commissioner Chris Kourakis, can demand normally secret government files and force people to testify. Premier Ben Carroll said former premiers Daniel Andrews and Jacinta Allan could be called. The $50 million inquiry must finish by August 2027, before November's election.
