Erin Patterson's lawyers told an appeals court on 20 August 2026 that phone tower records and online mushroom-sighting data should not have been shown to the jury, calling it unfair. Prosecutors said the evidence showed Patterson could find deadly mushrooms before the fatal Leongatha lunch. If the court agrees the judge made a mistake, her three murder convictions could be at risk. Patterson was convicted in 2025 and sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 33 years.
