On August 18, 2026, the FDA approved Aletta, made by Vitestro — the first robot cleared in the US to draw blood without human help. Studies showed it worked as well as or better than trained staff. The device uses light and sound waves to find veins, then handles the needle, disposal, and bandaging automatically.
