
Computers decide aged care funding — and staff can't overrule them
A computer program decides how much funding older Australians get for aged care. Staff can't override it — even when they think it's wrong. The Guardian reports there's no law stopping staff from stepping in. Workers and older people call it "cruel" and "inhumane." The Ombudsman is investigating. The Senate passed a bill in July to let staff override the computer.
