Harvard Study: Traffic Deaths Rise on Days Major Albums Come Out
A Harvard study found that on days popular new albums appear on streaming apps, US traffic deaths go up 15 percent. Researchers matched government crash records with Spotify's daily top-played lists, looking at 233,809 deadly crashes from 2017 to 2022. The ten biggest album releases lined up with about 182 extra deaths. The study shows a pattern, not proof the music caused the crashes.
