Brazil Bus Carrying Hospital Patients Crashes, Killing 23

A head-on crash on a highway in Brazil's Paraná state killed at least 23 people on August 19, 2026. The bus belonged to the town of Imbituva's health department and was carrying sick people and medical workers about 110 miles to bigger hospitals in Curitiba. In Brazil, small towns routinely send patients far away for care they cannot provide locally.
