US Ends South Korea War Games Early at Trump's Request

On 19 August 2026, South Korea said joint military practice with the US, called Ulchi Freedom Shield, would stop six days early. Trump called the drills "hostile" toward North Korea. Past cuts came before drills started. This is the first time one was stopped mid-way. South Korea's foreign minister said neither government was warned in advance.
