Most Children Sent to UK Anti-Terror Programme Get No Help

England's Children's Commissioner found 79% of children sent to Prevent — a UK programme meant to stop people turning to terrorism — were closed without any follow-up in 2024–25. Most had no clear extremist beliefs. Child cases rose from 2,918 to 4,715 over eight years. The commissioner says children obsessed with violence need a different kind of help Prevent wasn't built to give.
