Zambia's President Wins Second Term in a Troubled Election

Zambia's election officials declared President Hakainde Hichilema the winner of the August 13 vote with about 60% of ballots, giving him a second term. His main rival, Brian Mundubile, got about 38%. The vote was disrupted by violence against poll workers, stolen ballots, an armed attack near Mundubile, and his refusal to accept the result, claiming the vote counts were changed.
