PM apologises after nearly 15,000 pensioners wrongly lose winter payment

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Social Development Minister Louise Upston have apologised after 14,862 pensioners and veterans wrongly stopped getting their Winter Energy Payment. A law rushed through Parliament failed to protect the automatic payment from a yearly check. All payments have restarted and been backdated. Luxon has ordered a review.
