Labour removes MP from its group over Covid loan claims

Labour has stopped Bayo Alaba, MP for Southend East and Rochford, from representing the party in Parliament. The Times reported he tried to close his company before repaying a government-backed Covid loan. Alaba said he expects both loans repaid by year-end. The party is investigating. He now sits as an independent MP.
